Lviv IT Cluster surpasses 25,000 professionals — annual report
The Lviv IT Cluster published its 2025 annual report in February 2026, confirming that member companies collectively employ 25,000+ IT professionals in Lviv and the surrounding oblast. Membership in the cluster has grown from 90 companies in 2023 to 112 companies in 2025. The cluster's member firms span software engineering, defense technology, cybersecurity, and IT outsourcing.
The workforce growth reflects two trends. First, continued relocation of technology companies from eastern and central Ukraine seeking greater operational security and proximity to EU markets. Second, Lviv's universities — particularly Lviv Polytechnic National University and Ukrainian Catholic University — continue to produce the largest volume of STEM graduates outside Kyiv.
## Defense technology subsector
The cluster registered its 15th defense-technology member company in Q1 2026. Defense-tech companies now account for 13% of cluster membership. SoftServe and Intellias, the cluster's two largest employers, have each established dedicated defense-tech practice groups within their Lviv operations. SoftServe's defense-tech group employs approximately 180 engineers and focuses on drone guidance systems and electronic warfare countermeasures.
